Accessibility statement
Roof Over My Heart is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA (opens in a new tab), the standard referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act.
Conformance status
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard, and we are actively working on the items listed under known limitations below.
Measures we take
- Accessibility requirements are built into our design system and page templates.
- Automated axe-core scans run across every page of the site whenever we ship changes.
- Manual testing passes: keyboard-only navigation, screen reader review, 200% and 400% zoom, text-spacing overrides, reduced motion, and mobile touch targets.
- Color, contrast, focus indicators, and tap-target sizes are defined once as shared tokens so they stay consistent across the site.
Compatibility
This site is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile, together with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. It may not work well with browsers or assistive technology more than two major versions old.
Known limitations
- Third-party donation platform. Our donate button opens an external giving platform we do not control. If you have trouble donating there, email us and we will take your gift another way.
- Linked government resources. We link to state agency pages, such as the Contractors State License Board, whose accessibility we cannot guarantee.
- Documents. Some research material we publish may originate as PDFs. We will provide an accessible alternative on request.
Tell us about a barrier
If you run into anything on this site you cannot access or use, please tell us. Email info@roofovermyheart.org and describe the page and the problem. We aim to respond within five business days, and we will provide the information you need in another format while we fix the issue.
Formal complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division under the Americans with Disabilities Act at civilrights.justice.gov (opens in a new tab), or with the California Civil Rights Department.
How this was assessed
This statement reflects a self-assessment carried out by the team that builds and maintains this site, combining automated scanning with the manual test passes listed above. It is reviewed at least once a year.
